thanks!
Excelent Remix, but...
I see some improvement. Try making the kick sound louder, you're losing a lot of groove with that low kick. Some extra percussions would give it a little more feeling, the song is quite nice, but i don't feel the need of hitting my fingertip on the table to accompany the rhythim.
I'd say that, mostly, make that kick more audiable, and you got a nice remix...
Thanks for the review. The kick has a low/short sound because I was going for an oldschool feel where the kick isn't as prominent.
Nothing to add...
Example of the difference between real string instruments and PC created string instruments.
Keep the good work up!
Thank you, It didn't take as long as I thought and was entirely improvised on the day. It will be remade and placed upon my single and album, as the note says above, and thanks again for reviewing :D
can't define it...
Gave you a 4 on voting, cause sounds like some sort of experimentalism. Since you didn't define what it was...
wow, so people have to define their art now. not that i'm pretentious enough to call my pseudo-compositions art, but you know
Decent Song, but...
You need to get some better synths. 2~3 seem to be made of the same synth instrument you're using. You must use FL, I can almost feel it, thanks to the bass instrument you used. It needs some reverbing, to add some difference (notably, more realism to it, though it will never should like a real Bass Guitar).
The main synth could go with something else, this bleeping synth doesnt seem so nice to it, and it looks like you have a metal instrument accompaning it latter in the song, which sounds unnatural. Try changing that to a Lead synth, it might make some difference.
Percussion is decent, but still missing a kick that reaches out and dictates the song rythim...
Hmm...i'll think bout that in the future...
Goshy darny :P
Decent...
I'd say you seem to know some basics, like 8/8 sequencing (Vital for e-music production), I heard some Bass, Base rhythim and some percussion. But...
- Simple Bass (not a bad thing sometimes, simple is good depending on the song, it add groove to the song, but in this case, I can't feel it)
- Simple percussion (variation is key, also adding something more between those Kicks/Hit Hats/rides will give the song more groove and feeling)
- Simple base Rhythim (The main Synth is the same on all the music, and you just cut some of the sequencing on the synth sample you created to give some variation, try creation some minor changes on the sample itself, not cutting it to sound different)
I heard something in the background like a High pitched TS404. Work with it with your main synth, and you might get some results. Some FX, like flanging and phasing might add something new to the song as well...
Yeah, I agree
I pretty much know the basics, just need to improve on it a bit and not rush things
I'm still on "the learning curve", which is difficult at first, but I'm starting to get the hang of things...
But thankyou for the good review
I quite liked it...
Decent variation on the Percussion. But I'm missing a strong kick on it, so you can actually feel the rhythim, some hit hats, and some indication that we are entering a new 8/8 sequence (some crash, although i can identify those sequences).
Nice breakbeat in the middle, although It does feel it aint yours. Another thing I didnt liked much is that this isn't a song of yours, so you should sign, next time, as a remix made by you, something like " ??? - Tainted love (Ruddy88 DnB Remix)" for instance.
Maybe some base rhythim variation and some reverberation in some channels/synths...
the kicks hard for me, really shitty speakers, very little low end comes out of them so makes it difficult to tell.
and this is only a first draight, i tend put crashes in towards the end, i find if i put them in as i go i end up with too many. and no, its not mine, credit was put to pilchard and iridium for those different bits. im not all that used to DnB, so decided to make a song using existing beats, give me a better feel for what goes well for my next attempt, also still getting used to alot of the new features in flstudio 8.
thanks for the ideas though, i think next on my list is the reverb, and for the rhythm variation i plan to put teh bridge (if you know teh original song) in it. so that should seperate the repetition a bit
Dubstep
Quite nice rhythim for a Dubstep track (D'n B Genre). But I'd say that you must improve the percussion (missing some real strong and fat Kick there), with some Hit hat. The rest, i'd leave the way it is.
Some reverbing in some rhythim channels might make the song more desirable. I liked the bass and I see some potential...
Thanks! Again, this is just a demo to show my friend what a reese is. Also, I'm thinking of turning this into a full song, and I will change those things when I do. I just need to get a DnB drum pack.
String Instruments...
String instruments created in PC music making programs aren't very good (they sound unnatural). Needs FX on some channels/instruments so it'd sound less unnatural (But you can't replace the sound of real string instruments). The less unnatural insturment you might try to replicate would be Bass Stringed Instruments.
I'm giving a 5 because this one sound a little more entertaining that the DeVoid EP one. But I can't say this is actually estimulating...but it does remember me of some Megaman X for SNES level, which counts something =P
I agree, MIDI guitars and basses sound awful. I used Direct MP3 converter which uses SoundFont conversion to replace the MIDI instruments with "real" instruments, but they still sound iffy. The only real result was that the guitars are louder, abrasive and thus heavier. I'm experimenting with RSE now so maybe that'll result in better quality.
I disagree however about the basses. I really like the bass lines in both MIDI and SoundFont conversion although they don't feel very heavy in the songs, so that's why i turn them up during mixing.
Thanks for the input and glad you find something you like in the song :).
Can be better...
Some variation is needed. Try using some effect like reverbers, flangers and echoes to enchance the song (The piano and Bass could use some reverbing). The percussion needs some improving, with more variations, and some broken beats.
thanx
